Recent School Improvement Initiatives
Professional Development Leadership Sample:
In recent years I have served on a School Improvement Committee as previous chair and current participant of the Common Core/Data Committee I was involved in the data collection, analysis, and leading others in current study while giving implications toward future research and analysis. I worked with elementary and middle school deans to analyze the trends and outcomes of schools for the last 3 years. We tracked student achievement by grade. More specifically we narrowed down 3rd-5th grade results to monitor their progress, examine instructional strategies, and discover the Problem of Practice with teachers. We made the hypotheses that students lacked knowledge of the verbiage used regarding both objectives within units of learning, and the actual questioning within testing. As a result, we intentionally altered our instructional delivery regarding the rigor of vocabulary usage, informational writing, active listening, interpretation, and the applications of parts of the learning modules in Reading Street and Math Expressions. Overall there were growth trends, but we learned that we have to alter our methodology in the future and triangulate over time.
